Foot Care Equipment
Staff need to have access to the right equipment and know how to
- use it
- maintain it and
- store it
A box for storage
Try a two tier tool box on wheels. You may be able to use the top as a seat. Basic toenail clippers
For basic foot care - cutting and / or filing of normal toenails - it is fine to keep an individual set of clippers for each resident / client. If you want to keep a smaller number of sets and use them on multiple people – they should be sterilised. Sterilisation DOES NOT mean soaking in a disinfectant solution. It means, running them through a bench top sterliser as a part of a comprehensive sterilisation process. Have a look at these NHMRC guidelines about reprocessing reusable equipment.
